Ped Lagao Yatra between June 5-20 to enrich Narmada with greenery

Ped Lagao Yatra will be launched between June 5 and 20 for plantation both the sides for increasing flow of lifeline Narmada river and increasing greenery. People of all caste and creed will plant six crore saplings on July 2 and take resolution to protect them. Chief Minister gave this information in felicitation ceremony held for officers and employees working excellently in Narmada Seva Yatra at Chief Minister's residence today.

 CM shared memories of Narmada Seva Yatra begining on December 11, 2016 from Amarkantak and concluded on May 15, 2017 at Amarkantak. He said that this was amazing Yatra. Five month long small initiative took the shape of the biggest river conservation drive in the world. He said that people participated in narmada Seva Yatra have connected with each other like Narmada family. This family will expand further. He said that officers-employees performing excellently in Narmada Seva Yatra will be awarded on August 15. Chief Minister said that prosperity of Madhya Pradesh is because of Narmada river. He thanked Jan Abhiyan Parishad, collectors of 16 districts of Narmada Seva Yatra, those who participated in Narmada parikrama, saints, media and devotees of Narmada. He said that Narmada Seva Mission has been formed to protect Narmada river and it will continue to work. Sand mining has been banned fully. Mining will be done scientifically. There will be no contractual system. Women, self help groups of labourers, poor people will carry out sand mining. They will have share in the profit.

 Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Cow Progeny Protection Board Swami Akhileshwaranand, sharing his experience regarding Narmada Seva Yatra, said that this yatra was the foundation stone of golden Madhya Pradesh. Forests minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar, vice chairman of Jan Abhiyan Parishad Shri Pradip Pandey, Shri V.D. Sharma, Dr. Jamdar shared experiences, describing the yatra as unqiue, memorable and historical. The Chief Minister felicitated 90-year-old Parkammawasi Mai. He released music video dedicated to mother Narmada. Chief Minister's wife Smt. Sadhna Singh Chouhan, Narmada Sevaks from Amarkantak, Mandala, Dindori, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Alirajpur, Badwani, Dewas, Sehore, Raisen etc. districts were present on the occasion.
