The 34th meeting of the Board of Directors of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation presided over by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, concluded on July 4 at the Mantralaya. Public Works Minister Shri Rampal Singh was present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Chouhan reviewed the works being undertaken by the Corporation. Giving instructions to make the work plans for maintenance of roads, he said that all roads should be inspected before the onset of the rainy season. Roads that are damaged should be repaired well on time.

CM Chouhan gathered information related to the maintenance of the Indore-Ichhapur road, the first road constructed under BOT in the state. He said that the work of laying the 201-km long asphalt road will be done. The department assured the Chief Minister that works related to roads are in progress. The Pench repair work will continue. The Sagar-Jabalpur road is complete and now just a two-hour journey.

It was told at the meeting that construction work of 257 km-long state highways has been completed at the cost of Rs 543 crores during the year 2016-17. Similarly, construction of 460 km-long main district roads constructed at a cost of Rs 983 crores has also been completed. During the year 2017-18, the construction of 1613 km-long roads has been completed. Rs 3,757 crores will be spent on these works. Total 1456 km-long roads under ADB Project-5 are under construction on which Rs 2,328 crores will be spent. Under the NDB projects, 1640 km-long roads are under construction on which total Rs 3,093 crores will be spent. Under the ADB sixth project, construction of 2200 km-long roads is proposed on which Rs 4,657 crores will be spent. Similarly, under the ADB seventh project, 800 km-long roads costing Rs 1663 crores are to be constructed.

Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri A.P Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Shri Deepak Khandekar, Principal Secretary Public Works Department Shri Pramod Agrawal, Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Shri Manish Rastogi, Secretary Mineral Department Shri Manohar Dubey were also present during the meeting.
