CM Shri Chouhan gifts slippers to tendu leaf pluckers Chunni and Budhia

Smt. Chunni Khairwar, w/o Dadua Khairwar, a tendu leaf collector from vangram Jawarin in Satna district and Smt. Budhia Mavasi w/o Shri Shivmaran Mavasi of Chhari village will neither have blisters in their feet nor will they have to wander in search for cold water in the jungle. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Barondha village on July 31, 2017 on Monday and personally made the two women wear slippers and gave them a Cello water bottle. Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar also offered slippers to the tendu leaf collectors and gave them Cello water bottles.

The crowd present during the programme was overwhelmed when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself made them wear the slippers. Tendu leaf collectors Smt. Chunni Khairwar and Smt. Budhia Mavasi were quite impressed with the CM’s gesture and blessed him. Smt. Chunni and Smt. Budhia pluck tendu leaf and earn their livelihood in the vangrams in the Patharkachar Laghu Vanopaj Samiti area.

Chief Minister Chouhan launched the Charanpaduka Yojana for the tendu leaf collectors of the state on July 31, Monday at Barondha village in Satna district. The Chief Minister had announced in Umaria on April 18, 2017 that the scheme would be launched in the state for the tendu leaf pluckers. One couple each from each tendu leaf plucker family will be made to wear slippers and shoes and given free water bottles. Over 21.50 lakh tendu leaf collectors would be benefitted from the scheme.

Tendu leaf collectors get Rs 1.44 crore bonus

Rs 1 crore 44 lakhs bonus was given to 9,868 tendu leaf collectors of 13 committees of three ranges on July 31st in Chitrakoot. The Charanpaduka Yojana is being implemented by the Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sahakari Sangh. Managing Director of the Sangh Shri Jawwad Hasan told that 23 lakh 36 thousand standard bags of tendu leaf worth Rs 1338 crore has been collected in the year 2017 in state. After cutting the expenses, 70 per cent amount of the cost will be distributed to the tendu leaf collectors as bonus in the year 2018. This amount will be around Rs 500 crores. The bonus amount will be apart from the remuneration of Rs 292 crore payable to the tendu leaf collectors.
