1000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras to be opened in M.P.: Union MoS Shri Mandaviya

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the launching of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana in the state is the beginning of a revolution. He said that now generic drugs will be purchased in the state. A public awareness campaign will be launched to remove the myths related to the use and effects of generic drugs. He urged all doctors to prescribe generic drugs along with company medicines. He said that the Jan Abhiyan Parishad would be implemented Bharatiya Jan Aushadhiya Pariyojana. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this public interest scheme. CM Chouhan said that steps would also be taken to ban exaggerated advertisements related to medical facilities and drugs.

CM Chouhan was addressing a workshop on the use of generic medicines after signing of an MoU between the state government and Union Ministry for Chemicals and Fertilizers at the Academy of Administration for launching of Jan Aushadhi Kendra. An MoU was signed between the state government and the Medicine Department of the Union Ministry for Chemicals and Fertilizers. The MoU was signed by Executive Director of Jan Abhiyan Parishad Shri Umesh Sharma on behalf of state government and CEO of Bureau of Pharma PSU Shri Viplav Chatterji on behalf of the Government of India. It may be noted here that the generic drugs will be available at very reasonable rates compared to branded and expensive medicines. The formation and components of these drugs are similar. There are no side-effects of these drugs compared to any other branded drugs.

CM Chouhan said that the benefits of generic drugs will have to be brought before the public. He said that cheap and effective treatment of poor people should be ensured. This will help save money and bring relief to the public.

Madhya Pradesh moving ahead in every field: Union MoS Shri Mandaviya

Terming Chief Minister Chouhan as a Chief Minister of innovations, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Mansukh Mandaviya said that Madhya Pradesh is moving ahead in every field. It is known for launching poor-oriented schemes and serving the poor.

Shri Mandaviya said that there is only difference of content in generic drugs and branded company drugs. Branded drugs are sold by name. He said that the Jan Aushadhi project is for service to the poor.

Shri Mandaviya said that the generic drugs manufactured in India are full of quality and approved by the World Health Organisation. He said that the central government has reduced the rate of stents used in heart disease which was actually worth lakhs. He said that due to generic drugs Rs 8400 crores of the public has been saved in just 2 years which is actually spent on expensive treatment. He told that the system of supply of generic drugs in Jan Aushadhi Kendras is being computerized. As soon as the stock of drugs in Aushadhi Kendras lessens, the information will reach the Central Supply System. He told that a target of opening 1000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras in Madhya Pradesh has been set. Health Minister Shri Rustum Singh said that Jan Aushadhi Kendras will bring a great relief to the poor families.

Employment opportunities in state

With the opening of generic drug stores new opportunities of employment will be available in state. Besides, financial assistance of total Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand will be provided @Rs 10,000 per person per month for 24 months in the form of grant on generic drugs to those opening the generic store under the scheme. Benefit of 10 percent and 20 percent will be obtained by the distributor and retailer respectively on sale of drugs.

Additional Chief Secretary Planning Shri Deepak Khandekar and Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana officer were present on the occasion. Jan Abhiyan Parishad Vice Chairman Shri Pradeep Pandey proposed the vote of thanks.
