Girls have given best performance and made the country proud: CM

Women Cricket players have brought laurels to the country by giving an excellent performance in international competition. We are proud of our daughters. This was said by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while felicitating the women Cricket players of country at Friends of MP conclave in Indore today. State Industries Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Mayor Smt. Malini Gaud, MLA Sushri Usha Thakur, BCCI Vice-President Shri Sanjay Jagdale, CM’s wife Smt. Sadhana Singh, Director Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Upendra Jain, Principal Secretary Public Relations Shri S.K. Mishra and Commissioner Public Relations Shri P. Narhari were also present on the occasion.

CM Chouhan said that our girls have given an excellent performance and won the hearts of 130 crore hearts of the people of India. We are proud of them, he added. It may be recalled here that India had lost by just 9 runs in final match against England on July 23, 2017. The Indian women cricket team had made it to the finals by defeating the strongest team Australia by 36 runs in the World Cup semi-finals in 2017. Looking at the brilliant performance of the womens cricket team, the Chief Minister had announced an award of Rs 50 lakhs to the entire team. The team players were present in Indore today. The Chief Minister presented Rs 3 lakh 33 thousand to each member of the team.

The ceremony was conducted by Shri Padam Bhandari. Shri Milind Kalmadikar of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, Shri Mahendra Sethia, Shri M.K. Bhargav, Executive Officer Shri Rohit Pandit, Indore Divisional Cricket Association President Shri Amitabh Vijayvargiya and State Secretary of Handball Association Shri Pritpal Singh were also present on the occasion.

Players felicitated

Captain of Indian womens cricket team Sushri Mitali Raj, Mona Meshram, Poonam Raut, Dipti Sharma, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Ekta Bisht, Sushma Verma, Rajeshwari Gaikwad, Poonam Yadav, Nujhat Parvin and Smriti Mandhana were honoured with shawl and coconut, Members of cricket team Sushri Harmanpreet Kaur, Vedakrishnamurthy and Mansi Joshi were absent although awards were presented on their behalf also
