One Nodal Officer in Each District to Help Women Self- Help Groups

The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the economic activities of the women –self help groups is transforming into a revolution in the state. One Nodal Officer in each district of the state will be made available to strengthen the women –self –help groups, to provide help for conducting their economic activities and technical guidance. These Nodal Officers will help the women self-help groups in their progress with coordination of the concerned departments, district administration, banks and concerned organizations.

CM Chouhan was addressing the members of women self-help groups through ‘Dil Se’ programme broadcasted and telecasted from Akashwani and Doordarshan today. He deliberated in detail about the formation, management, products, marketing, organizational power of the self-help groups beside new responsibilities and issues related to women safety.

CM Chouhan mentioned that women’s safety is the top priority of the state government. The proposal has been sent for the approval of the President by enacting a law to give capital punishment to the culprits involved in heinous crime against the innocent girls. He also deliberated in detail about the unique steps taken for the women’s safety and its remedies on the occasion.

CM Chouhan extended greetings of Makar Sankranti. He informed that Anand Utsav is being organized in rural and urban areas from January 14 to 21 to transfuse joy in the people’s life by enhancing the sentiments of participation, brotherhood and mutual cooperation.

New Responsibilities to be entrusted to Self –Help Groups

CM Chouhan stated that the state government is providing several facilities to the women self-help groups. A new training policy will be framed by reviewing it. If the women self-help produce good quality products then purchase of these products will be considered. CM Chouhan further mentioned that the federation of women self–help groups is being entrusted with the responsibility to make take home ration. A high level training will be imparted to them to enable them to prepare nutritious food scientifically.

The bank guarantee against the loan of Rs. 5 crore to be provided to the federation of women –self-help groups will be given by the government. Moreover, interest payable at the rate of 3 percent on loan taken by the other self-help groups formed under the State Livelihood Mission will be paid by the government. Stamp fee will not be imposed on them, CM Chouhan added.

Moreover, CM Chouhan said that mid-day meal and hot nutritious food is being provided by several women self-help groups in schools and aaganbadis respectively. These groups are conducting activities of about Rs. 1500 crore turnover. Members connected to these groups are now being entrusted with the responsibility to stitch school uniforms. They will prepare uniforms of 70 lakh students annually with an annual turnover of Rs. 280 crore. Along with this, the women self-help groups are being linked with the activity of electricity meter reading and distribution in the rural areas. They will be entrusted with the responsibility for electricity meter reading, bill distribution and revenue collection. This arrangement as an experiment will be made in 10 villages of Raisen, Vidisha and Rajgarh districts.

Furthermore, CM Chouhan stated that the help of women self-help groups will be taken to make Swachchta Abhiyan successful. Financial assistance will be provided to the members for vehicle and sanitation equipments. They will become cleanliness ambassadors and the income of their groups will increase. He further informed that, how 7300 members of the self-help groups are conducting the social audit of MNREGA works.

CM Chouhan mentioned that the woman of modern times is not weak but competent and daughters are no more a burden but blessings. He said that economic empowerment of women is must for the progress of families, society, state and the country. Women self-help groups will be strengthened for this. CM Chouhan stated that a big difficulty becomes easy, when women work together with strong determination. Group of women having same thinking transforms into a self-help group. He further mentioned that strong determination, skill, passion and self confidence combined together produce energy and no work becomes impossible. When women of same thinking work together, it paves new ways for progress. They can bring major changes in the society on getting opportunities, he added.

Saving of 250 crore

CM Chouhan informed that saving of over 2 lakh women self-help groups has become Rs. 250 crore. This helps at the time of adversity. He further said that each member of over One lakh 43 thousand self-help groups is earning an income of over Rs. One lakh annually. They have brought happiness in their families.

Branding of Groups’ Products

Chief Minister Chouhan said that he himself will be branding the products of women self-help groups. The products of several self-help groups are better than the branded companies. Products like herbal soaps, kutki rice, incense sticks, roasted linseeds, gur, ground nut chikki, flowers’ garlands and turmeric powder is being discussed in the market. He mentioned that self-help groups are engaged in manufacturing of soaps, gur, groundnut chikki, incense sticks, vegetable production, handlooms, clothes manufacturing, sanitary napkins’ production, poultry farming and manufacturing of various other agro-based products. The vermi pits and Nadep has also been made by them to encourage organic farming.

Women of Dindori district are producing and processing kodo-kutki. They are also supplying chikki of kodo-kutki to the aaganbadis under the project. The members of the women self -help groups have formed 10 poultry farming committees or producing companies, over 5 thousand women are engaged in poultry farming and its trade in these committees. These women have conducted a business of about Rs. 175 crore in the year 2016-17.

Beside economic activities, the women self-help groups are playing important role in the social awareness activities like de-addiction, prevention of child marriages and Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao abhiyan.

Appreciation for successful Self-Help Groups

The Chief Minister appreciated many successful self-help groups mentioning them. He quoted success stories of Ganesh self-help group of village Bhilkhera of Badwani district, Sapna self help group of Simaria of Devri development block of Sagar district, Laxmi Selp help group of Kalyanpur of Suhagpur development block of Shahdol district, Mahadev Self Help Group of Ratodan village of Sheopur district and women associated with them. Discussing success of Satpura woman silk producer company of 931 tribal women of 70 villages of Betul district, he said that how these women changed their life by producing silk.

Women security top most priority

 Reiterating the government's resolution for security of women, CM Chouhan said that those who demage the dignity of girl will be hanged. For this, the law has been passed and sent for the President's approval. Quoting the steps taken for women security, he said tht over 82,000 Shaurya Dal are working. State level help line 1090 has been launched for women security, women are fearlessly registering their complaints through this. Nirbhaya patrolling has been launched at district headquarters for women security.

No permit to buses without CCTV

The Chief Minister said that Maitri Police Patrolling has been started in the state. Patrolling vehicles keep watch at schools, colleges, parks and other public places. Woman police stations have been opened in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Satna, Sagar, Jabalpur, Rewa, Ratlam and Katni. They makes prompt hearing. The Chief Minister said that in order to stop incidents of teasing with girls, in school and city buses, installation of CCTV cameras in school and city buses  has been made mandatory. Only those buses will get permit, whose owner will install CCTV camera.

Apart from this, the chief minister said that fast track courts have been set up in all the districts. He appealed daughters and women to lodge complaint without fear if anybody behaves abusively on social media. SOS facility is available on Police website and App MPeCOP. Using this facility, instant information can be sent to Dial-100 and to relatives. CM Chouhan said that 141 woman desks have been sanctioned to ensure prompt hearing of women complaints.

Security of women is joint responsibility of society and government

 The Chief Minister said that the security of women is the responsibility of the government and the government is performing its responsibility with full sensitivity, but support from the society is required. He appealed all sections of the society to provide full support to government's efforts. Children must be taught to respect women and girls. He said that lessons will be incorporated in school curriculum on the subject and save girl child campaign will be launched with new spirit. Giving example of Bhind district, he said that sex ratio is improving in the district because of the intensive campaign by the state government.

 Referring to Swami Vivekanand birth anniversary- Yuva Diwas, CM Chouhan said that Swamiv Ji's thoughts have great power to make people energetic. Discussing 'Ekatma Yatra' started from December, 19 in the state, CM Chouhan said that this Yatra has been started from four different routes. 'Shankaracharya Sandesh Vahini' has been flagged off from the birthplace of Shankaracharya in Kerala. All Yatras will reach Omkareshwar on January 21. The aim of the Yatra is make the public aware of Advaita Vedanta Darshan. By support of the society, made of Ashtadhatu, 108 ft long statue of Adi Shankaracharya will be installed in Omkareshwar.

CM Chouhan informed that a convention of NRIs belong to Madhya Pradesh 'Friends of MP' was held on January 3 and 4 in Indore. Friends of 20 countries participated in it. Discussions were held with them for cooperation in development of Madhya Pradesh.

Make your cities clean

CM Chouhan appealed to the citizens to contribute to keep their own cities clean with self-motivation. He said that participate in Cleanliness Survey-2018 enthusiastically. In the last survey, 22 cities of Madhya Pradesh were selected in top 100. Contribution should be made in cleanliness of your cities in this survey too. CM Chouhan said that Narmada Jayanti is on January 24.He appealed to reiterate the resolution for keeping Narmada clean. Pointing out Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, he said that the scheme has been successful. This is very beneficial for farmers. So far, Rs 834 crore have been paid to 6,35,000 farmers. Other states are studying to adopt the scheme
