Chambal basin of Malwa region will be green: CM

Now the drought-affected are of Chambal basin of Malwa region will not remain dry. The best irrigation initiative Micro Lift Irrigation Scheme to lift water from Narmada Basin to the drought affected area of Chambal Basin was given approval at the 60th meeting of the Narmada Control Board held here today. The Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur Micro Lift Irrigation Project was approved at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The area of Jhabua-Dhar to benefit from the project

Development works of more than Rs 2,221 crores were approved at the meeting. In this new construction works of Rs 2,197 crore 60 lakh and revised construction works of Rs 24.16 crore were approved. Finance Minister Shri Jayant Malaiyya, Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar, Energy Minister Shri Paras Jain, Revenue Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta, Public Works Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Chief Secretary Shri B.P. Singh and concerned senior officials were present at the meeting.

CM Shri Chouhan said that the construction of development works in the approved projects should be completed in the prescribed time limit. Laying stress on the quality of the works, he told that they should be regularly monitored. Cent percent use of Narmada water allotted to the state should be ensured in the state on time. The Chief Minister was told that the state has to use 18.25 M.A.F. water till year 2024. All water utility projects will be ready by year 2022.

The Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Sardarpur-Lift Micro Irrigation Project was approved at the meeting to make irrigation facility available in 57 thousand 422 hectare land for Jhabua and Dhar district. The estimated cost of the project is 2 thousand 50 crore 70 lakhs. Construction of 19 ghats to facilitate devotees on the banks of Narmada valley have been approved on which Rs 136 crore 84 lakhs will be spent. Approval of Rs 10 crore 6 lakh has been made for ghat construction on the right bank of Narmada in Revgaon, Rehti in Sehore district under Narmada Seva Mission. Revised approval of Rs 24 crore 16 lakh has been granted for Jabalpur district’s Rani Durgawati Lift Micro Irrigation Scheme. Through this scheme, 1200 hectare land of 7 villages of Jabalpur tehsil will be irrigated through micro system.

Nearly 32 thousand hectare land of Thandla, Jhabua and Petlawad tehsil of Jhabua district and 25 thousand 422 hectare land of Dhar district will be irrigated under Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Sardarpur-Lift Micro Irrigation Project. Irrigation will be done through irrigation drip or sprinkler. The scheme will benefit 173 villages of Jhabua and Dhar district
