5,987 km National Higwhay approved in state under Bharatmala Yojana

Construction of 5 thousand 987 kilometre long National Highway in state has been approved in the first phase under Centre’s Bharatmala Yojana. Under this scheme, the Bhopal-Indore 6 lane Express Way and Bhopal Bypass has also been approved. This information was given at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation that concluded here today chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Public Works Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Chief Secretary Shri B.P. Singh was also present.

During the meeting CM Shri Chouhan issued instructions that the road construction work should be quality based and should be completed within the prescribed time limit. It was told at the meeting that 1487 kilometre state highways and 2365 kilometre main district roads of the state will be upgraded with the help of Asian Development Bank in which Rs 6 thousand crores will be spent. Nearly 13 thousand 166 km long roads have been constructed by the Road Development Authority and work on 5 thousand 51 km long roads is in progress in state. The construction of Sidhi-Singrauli National Highway will be completed this year by the month of October. Work on Dewas bypass is in progress. Proposals of 2 lane and capacity enhancement of Damoh-Jabalpur and Sagar-Damoh road will be made.Works worth Rs one crore have been undertaken under Corporate Social Responsibility this year by the Corporation. This year also the Corporation will undertake works under Corporate Social Responsibility Activity with the same amount.

Additional Chief Secretary Forest Shri K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Public Works Shri Mohammed Suleiman, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Ashok Vernawal, Principal Secretary Mines Shri Neeraj Mandloi and Managing Director of Road Development Authority Shri D.P. Ahuja were also present at the meeting
