Shivraj Singh Chouhan lays the foundation of Jawar Micro Lift Irrigation Scheme

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone of the Jawar Micro Irrigation Scheme worth Rs 466 crore 91 lakhs at Jawar in Khandwa district. Chief Minister Chouhan said that irrigation facility will be available for a 26-thousand-hectare agricultural land of 20 thousand farmers of 53 villages through this scheme.

The Chief Minister said that in this scheme the water of Indira Sagar Reservoir near Selda village will be lifted in three phases. In the first phase, the water will be lifted at the rate of 9 cubic meters per second, in the second phase at the rate of 4.50 cubic meter per second and in the third phase, water will be lifted to 91-meters altitude at the rate of 2 cubic meters per second. This water will be transported through underground pipelines to the farmers' fields.

Through this scheme, the farmers will be able to irrigate their fields with drip or sprinkler system with ease. Those farmers whose fields are uneven will also be able to take advantage of irrigation.
