Shivraj Singh Chouhan performs Bhoomi poojan of Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Irrigation Project costing Rs. 2215.64 crore

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed Bhoomi poojan of Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Lift Irrigation Project at Tarana of Ujjain district on September 26. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 2215 crore 64 lakh. A target of 42 months has been set to complete the project. A total of 15 cumecs (15 cubic meter per second) Narmada water will be lifted from the Omkareshwar reservoir. Water will be made available for irrigation through 5 pumping stations by lifting 497-meter water from the first pumping station.

CM Chouhan said that Narmada water has been brought to improve the falling groundwater level of Malwa. Efforts are being made to supply water to the agriculture fields of farmers by linking Narmada-Gambhir, Kalisindh and Parvati river under the Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Lift Irrigation Project.

Everyone in the state will have annual income Rs. One lakh in future

The Chief Minister stated that efforts will be made to ensure a minimum annual income of Rs. One lakh for every poor in the state. The state will also have 3 express high ways. He informed that the electricity bills worth Rs. 200 Crore has been waived off under the Sambal Yojana. The 2.5 crore population of the state is being covered under the scheme.

CM Chouhan performed the Bhoomi poojan of 5 high standard bridges costing Rs. 52 crore 22 lakh, Dogra Gurjar pond worth Rs. 4 crores 16 lakh, Tarana-Makdon-Dupada Road costing Rs. 26 crore 40 lakh in Tarana and Ghattiya Assembly Constituency area. The Chief Minister dedicated Nal-Jal Yojana constructed at a cost of Rs. 46 lakhs and 48 lakhs at Mangliya and Lusudiya village respectively along with the police station building and traffic police station at Ghatiya. He also performed Bhoomi poojan of 49.55 km long road worth Rs. 36 crore 56 lakh in Tarana Assembly Constituency area.

Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Project

It is to be highlighted that Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Project is a significant phase of the Narmada-Malwa Link Campaign. Under this, projects have been prepared to lift and supply Narmada water to the basin of Kshipra, Gambhir and Kalisindh rivers of Malwa. After completion of the project, a total of 30 thousand hectares irrigation command area will come up in Ujjain and Shajapur district. As many as 55 villages of Tarana area and 7 villages of Ghattiya area of Ujjain district will be benefitted by irrigation facility. This will also facilitate potable water to Tarana, Jhangra, Ghattiya and Guradiagurjar villages along with water to the industries of Ujjain and Nagda area.
