CM Shri Chouhan reviews Wheat procurement work

The Chief Minister sought information in context to the ongoing wheat procurement work in the state through video conferencing at Mantralaya today. He informed that he has discussed with the Union Government and also obtained permission to procure wheat without shine. Shri Chouhan said that total crops of farmers will be procured. The work was started smoothly even in the adverse condition of Corona and is yielding good results. Every possible facility has been given to the farmers.

Shri Chouhan was informed that 40 lakh 26 thousand MT wheat has already been procured at support price in the state. This has been procured from 7 lakh 50 thousand farmers of the state. An amount of Rs. 3171 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers. Eight six percent of the procured wheat has also been transported. Transportation has reached 96 percent in 24 districts of the state.

Shri Chouhan said that necessary facilities should be provided to the farmers at the procurement centres. Social distancing must be observed fully. He also directed in the video conferencing to inform the farmers about the system to sell wheat through Souda Patrak (Sale Letter). It was informed in the meeting that about 6 lakh MT wheat has been procured under this system in the state. About 50 mandis including Indore and Ujjain are closed at present and despite Corona crisis in the state, farmers have received many facilities. Moreover, it was informed in the meeting that where the mandis are open, there are complete arrangements for procurement. Apart from this, arrangements have also been made to lift grain from the houses of the farmers. The system of sending messages to the farmers for calling them to the mandis is being further improved. Where the number of farmers for bringing grains is less, 30 and 40 farmers in plac eof 20 are being invited by sending SMS.

In the video conference, officials of various concerned departments gave information related to the procurement. The Principal Secretary Agriculture Shri Ajit Keshri informed that cooperation is being received from the Government of India in connection to the arrangement of sacks. The procurement of gram and mustard has also started in the state and is being conducted systematically. As soon as the conditions in the Corona virus affected areas become normal, the remaining farmers who have not yet taken advantage of the Souda Patrak system will also be able to sell wheat comfortably.
